Green Flag: Anheuser-Busch Encouraging NASCAR Fans to Recycle This Weekend

Anheuser-Busch Recycling Corporation has partnered with A-B’s local distributor, Bealer Distributing, and Lowe’s Motor Speedway to provide more than 250 Budweiser Recycling containers in the concourse, vendor display areas, infield and suites to recycle plastic and aluminum containers during this weekend’s NASCAR events at the speedway. In addition, campers at the four main campgrounds will receive recycling bags as they enter those facilities and will be encouraged to leave their recyclables at their camp sites for pickup.

All proceeds from the Anheuser-Busch recycling program will be given to Speedway Children’s Charities (SCC), which provides funding for hundreds of non-profit organizations throughout the nation that meet the direct needs of children. The Anheuser-Busch Recycling promotion during the speedway’s Speed Week in May 2008 raised more than $2,100 for SCC.

Recycling Program: Anheuser-Busch Recycling works closely with a network of 700 organizations around the country to encourage recycling of used beverage containers. The company implements numerous programs, from its Recycle Challenge initiative, where schools earn money from recycled cans to purchase school equipment, to beverage container collection at large venues and events, including in recent years the Daytona 500, Sturgis Bike Week and LPGA/PGA TOUR tournaments. In addition, the company operates a recycling center in Hayward, Calif., which processes both aluminum cans and plastic bottles. For more information, visit (Speedway Children’s Charities).
