Kyle Petty Brings Back Dream Team Challenge; Smoke Saves a Dog and Dale Jr. Sports Foundation Logo

Kyle Petty’s charity motorcycle ride is still going strong in its 15th year. For 2009, the ride brings back its grassroots Dream Team Challenge to support Victory Junction. Then, after the jump, Stewart and Dale Jr. show off the good in sport.

Kyle Petty Charity Ride

Kyle Petty: The 15th Chick-fil-A Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America is challenging community members along the 2009 Ride route to take part in a grassroots awareness and fundraising effort. The funds raised through the second annual Charity Ride Dream Team Challenge will support Victory Junction Gang Camp.
Prior to the Ride’s arrival in these cities, community members are invited to form “Dream Teams” to raise funds for and awareness of the Ride and its beneficiaries. Dream Teams will be invited to present donations to Kyle Petty and Ride participants at special events along the Ride route (Kyle Petty Charity Ride).

Now in its 15th year, the Charity Ride has donated more than $12 million to children’s charities, with 6,100 participants logging more than 7.9 million cumulative motorcycle miles (Kyle Petty Charity Ride).

Tony Stewart: The Tony Stewart Foundation “donated an undisclosed amount of money to pay surgery costs for an injured stray Shih Tzu dog.” The dog “was taken to the Humane Society for Hamilton County with a broken back, and he needed immediate surgery.” The Tony Stewart Foundation “made a gift to the Humane Society specifically covering the costs of the surgery and the dog’s special ‘wheelchair’ to make up for losing the use of his hind legs” (AP, 3/20).

Dale Jr.: Dale Earnhardt Jr. will sport a special Dale Jr. Foundation paint scheme on his No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevy during the Sprint All-Star race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on May 16th. The Dale Jr. Foundation logo will be splashed on the car’s hood (Dale Jr. Foundation).
