A Video Look at the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation

A cool video about the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation hit YouTube in the past week. The organization strives to positively impact the lives of under served children in the Greater Philadelphia region. The ESYHF teaches kids not only how to play the sport but also life-enhancing values such as teamwork, healthy conflict resolution, positive self-esteem, hard work, and respect.

ESYHF President Scott Tharp: I think hockey is a wonderful sport. Number one, everybody falls down. No matter how good you are, you fall down. And it’s a real test of someone’s character to see how they react to falling down and what they do when they get up. The other thing, with the children that we target, hockey is a terrific sport because it’s a great way to teach them conflict resolution in a non-violent manner” (Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation).

Take the jump and see more videos from the newKick for Hope soccer tournament, and a look behind the scenes at the Lakers Youth Foundation golf invitational and auction.

Kick for Hope: Kick for Hope is a youth competitive soccer tournament to benefit Africa. The inaugural tournament is this July 11-12 in San Diego. The tournament is being led by Kristen Chandler, who simply states on the organization’s Web site, “I’m a soccer mom on a mission. It’s my hope that you’ll share my vision and join me in providing our children with an opportunity to ‘play hard & give big’ for the children of Africa” (Kick for Hope).

Lakers Youth Foundation: In the OC, Cindy Murphy reported that the Los Angeles Lakers hosted their 19th Annual Celebrity Golf Invitational benefiting the Los Angeles Lakers Youth Foundation earlier this month. The Los Angeles Lakers Youth Foundation assists nonprofit community organizations based on need, “focusing on the use of sports to promote education, teamwork and self esteem” for the youth in the Los Angeles area (Orange County Register, 3/3).
