Entrepreneur Running Barefoot Across the U.S.

October 7, 2009

And I thought Eddie Izzard’s recent run around the U.K. was crazy! Now comes a story out of Altoona that Tellman Knudson, an entrepreneur and Internet marketer, is running barefoot across the U.S. The New York to California jaunt is an effort to raise $100 million for homeless youth.

During Knudson’s stop in Altoona, he caught up with the Altoona Mirror’s Amanda Clegg. Mirror notes that the 32-year-old Knudson began his barefoot journey in Battery Park, New York, Sept. 9, and will end it at the Santa Monica Pier in California. Perhaps the biggest goal is to complete the run in 99 days.

Clegg: “The idea to run across the country came to Knudson while on the private island of Virgin Records founder Sir Richard Branson. … The corporation’s charitable counterpart Virgin Unite reaches out to homeless youth. Helping the homeless was also a passion for Knudson’s late friend Tyler Blain.”

Knudson told Clegg he decided to run barefoot to simply “up the ante a bit.”
