Fire Dept Halts Burger Joint’s Favre Bonfire

Favre Packers Jersey 275hApparently, a Eau Claire fire department decided the Brett Favre bonfire “wasn’t kosher,” as reported by the Pierce County Herald. There had been a lot of buzz around Milwaukee Burger Co.’s decision to hold a halftime fire for distraught Packers fans to burn their Favre memorabilia. For every piece burned, $10 would have been donated to Wisconsin Alliance for Fire Safety.

I guess this is one of those cases where you need to be careful who you tell. The fire department didn’t ruin the entire night, though. The restaurant was able to make good on the promise. One Brett Favre Packers jersey was burned. The rest were donated to Goodwill. The Herald noted that about a dozen items were donated by halftime, with more expected throughout the week. Milwaukee Burger Co. is still donating $10 per item to the Wisconsin Alliance for Fire Safety.

Considering Favre picked apart his former team to lead the Vikings to a win at the Metrodome on Monday night, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the burger joint plans something different for Favre’s return to Lambeau Field in November.
