Logano, KaBOOM! Build Playground in Richmond

When the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series visited Richmond International Raceway earlier this month, Joe Gibbs Racing prodigy Joey Logano took some time to help build a playground in Richmond’s Church Hill neighborhood. The project was led by KaBOOM!, in association with partners such as The Home Depot, which sponsor Logano and his JGR team.

In Richmond, Joe Macenka noted that the project left Church Hill’s municpal park “with shiny playground toys erected in freshly mulched beds, a new tract of community garden plots, and new shrubbery and other landscaping improvements.” Logano: “For starters, it’s a really cool project. But when you’re fortunate enough to do what I get to do for a living and you have a chance to give a little something back, you do it.”

Macenka added that KaBOOM! is “dedicated to providing more opportunities for children to play has created or restored more than 1,000 playgrounds since its inception more than a decade ago” (Richmond Times-Dispatch, 9/11).
